New service: character renaming! Outdated name, youthful mistake, lame wordplay or just feel like changing? You can now rename your characters in WAKFU!

It’s now possible to change the name of your characters in WAKFU! This service is available once every three month, for a cost of 2800 Ogrines.

Visit this page and choose the character you wish to rename. As soon as the operation is complete, you can log into the game and connect the chosen character: a new window will pop up, allowing you to choose a new character name. Please note that there will be no way to reverse the change!

Stupid idea. Now players who did something bad can change their names and continue doing it and no one will know who they are.

I like this idea, I was very happy when this was implemented in Dofus too a long time ago. And about people who change their names so nobody will find out who they are - I think that they'll make a new character otherwise anyway.

Although I understand your point, there are also other reasons for players wanting to change their names. Most important of these is probably the issue of old players selling their accounts, in which case buyers would be stuck with old names & reputation. And of course, there's also some instances in which a person/character has a miserable reputation without having done "something bad" and just wants to start anew. Or, even if it might be a tad unlikely, I suppose it would be possible to get tired of your char name, too.

Anyway, I'm just happy they're making these changes! It might mean that they will implement that awesome option to change hair & cloth color in the near future. Yay!

Doing bad things is a viable option in a sandbox game. If an Outlaw wants to start over why not give him the option to take on a new identity? Besides, who would spend real money in order to do bad things under a new alias (that will be in a bad light again soon) in a videogame?

Keep in mind that this is changing the character name not the display name. Even if one changes their name after doing 'bad stuff' if you have them in your flist/blist or use '/whois x' command you can see their display name and thus catch them still.

What's this about 'subject to availability'? Can only a certain amount of players rename each 3 months?

I'm tipping it means you can change your name but obviously you can't change it to something that's already taken by another player.

I'm pretty sure buying or selling accounts is against the TOS so i'm positive that it's not the most important reason to have a renaming service. Changing your main to another class is another reason, when someone wants to have a specific name on his main.

Awesome, all I'm missing now is a nation change service (limited to once a year or something like that) and I am in love.

Buying and Selling accounts is meant to be against the TOS as well as sharing accounts, but the TOS has a few legal loop holes in it, either it was translated from the French one or the person who wrote it wasn't a lawyer.
