For decades, the greatest scientists have been studying that mysterious energy rediscovered after the Chaos of Ogrest - Wakfu. The greatest researchers have been working to understand its origin, function, and how to control it. Until now, many theories have emerged on Wakfu and Stasis. The last officially recognized by the CUGA was that Wakfu represented Nature’s balance, the ideal state for all life in all ecosystems. In contrast, Stasis was the imbalance, the overcrowding and the under-population of a species. This theory seemed to have been confirmed by the arrival of Gemlins - adventurer’s eternal companions that held immense knowledge and were a reflection of their master’s souls - turning blue when their master was a Wakfu follower and purple when their heart was thought to be more Stasis inclined. And so it is with these instructions from the CUGA that Clan Members, the protectors of our land, have made sure that law and order was enforced on their ecosystem. But the latest research by the Prophet Daryl came to question this theory. If you still doubted that Gemlins where pranksters, you’ll soon change your mind. The offspring of Incarnam have come clean. They’ve been playing us for months! Their representation of our karma is wrong... After that revelation and a series of inconclusive interrogations with them - the creatures have not proven worthy to provide a clear and consistent explanation - all theories are once again under consideration. We are back to basics ... Wakfu would appear to be the glue of nature and the symbol of creation. While Stasis, is the juice of machinery, synonymous with death and destruction. Are they the two sides of the coin? Could they be opposite energies? While waiting for the results, the CUGA has decided not to change the current ecosystem and territory management system. But you must prepare yourself - changes are on their way, and anything could happen... |

It wasn’t an easy task to determine the winners of the Create-a-set contest - we’ve received numerous unique and wonderful artworks, but a choice had to be made. The judges, Sephy, Zidrune and myself, have come to a consensus. The sets were judged on creativity, originality, humour and coherence with the Wakfu universe. We’ve chosen the top 3, and have two special mention categories, one for arsenal, and the other for the Jury’s individual favorites! |

With two classes, Enutrof and Sadida, still to be added, the game-designers wanted to know what gameplay features you prefer, in order to possibly incorporate them in the new classes. =) So please voice your opinion and don’t hesitate to leave a comment! |

Hey guys, As you might have noticed, there have been no Dev Hours or updates recently, but don’t worry, you haven’t been forgotten! As you know “beta” is synonymous with “work in progress” but it also means that nothing is set in stone and that everything could change at any given time. And so, the game-designers and developers have decided to take in your advice, and look at the different aspects of the game and gameplay, and make the necessary modifications. Everyone is quite busy and since we are analyzing what needs to be changed there is very little to share with you at present. We will keep you updated as soon as we can. Also, please note that there will not be a patch in June. Kaoly |

Hey Guys! Sorry for not posting earlier, but I was away last Friday and by the time I got back, the info had already changed and, what was posted on the French side was no longer 100% accurate. I was waiting for it to be set in stone to post it for you, but to this day, it still isn't, and I think you've waited long enough. So, without further ado, I'll give you the info I have now, my apologies for it being a bit vague... Things do change pretty quickly around here, and the schedule for patches has been on the operating table all week. So I cannot assure you that there will be a patch in June, because there might not be. And I cannot confirm that your characters will be reset with the next patch, it might not happen. There might be a wipe, but there also might not be. It's under discussion. I can tell you what the different teams are working on, but since a lot of changes are under way, you might not see these changes in the next patch. Here is a little preview list of what is being worked on : the two last classes (Sadida and Enutrof), challenges, interfaces, crafts, diseases, wakfu/stasis balance. And of course, the usual - class balancing and bug fixes. You should see big modifications to all of those, but we cannot guarantee when you will see them. |

Because of a technical glitch, accounts who did not have access to the closed beta were able to access the servers after patch 0.215. The glitch was fixed this morning and there is once again an access requirement in order to log on. 'Illegal' accounts who logged in during that period will get full access in order not to penalize anyone. Access will be given Kaoly *[Edit] |

The dynamic atmosphere which includes changing shadows and rain/snow is a great feature of wakfu. However, why stop there? We could implement ways that the atmosphere affects plants and animals. ie. rain and sunshine increases growth rate, snow decreases growth, animals run for shelter or are less aggresive in battle when it rains. etc. That's already in the works to a certain degree Your success rate for planting crops will depend on the weather - if it's drastically too hot or too cold, it could stop you from planting a a certain type of plant. On the other hand, if the conditions are just right, your success rate will skyrocket and your plants will grow faster. Potentially, it could also make special mobs appear (that only come out in the rain for example). It's still a work in progress, but it is underway. =) Kaoly |

First off thank you for your comments and feedback! Even though English isn’t my first language, I made sure to read all of them! I have to admit that, since you’re feedback is usually more thought-out or, I should say, “mature” than the French community, it really helps! But… don’t tell them I said that ^^ As you might have guessed, creating a dynamic ecosystem is a constant battle. There’s also the added difficulty of integrating a system that is both easy enough for casual gamers, and sufficiently advanced for hardcore gamers. That’s why we experiment with different solutions to try and balance it out. But rest assured, on the next patch, I will drastically increase the chances to succeed when ‘planting’ monsters, that way even if other players are constantly killing your mobs, you’ll still be able to increase the population. It might be a simple solution, but that coupled with a few other adjustments, should really do the trick and help even things out. Happy gaming! Tonio |

Hey people!! I know you’ve been waiting for this… I would be moved too, if I got to meet me for the first time. Why such a vivid, candid person, taking time out of his busy schedule just to share the marvels of his work with you! Oh, how must you feel blessed! Only a pure soul, an incredible being could share the splendor of his creations, without even hinting to a word of praise… My, what a kind and generous person, wouldn’t you say? I hear noise in the background... Nah, that can’t be right! Didn’t come here for me you say? I am shocked… Oh well… Since I have you here might as well show you a little of what I do ^^ I (the only one worthy of such a title), respond to the mellifluous name of “Julian”. I, am an animator on both the game and the “animated” series. ^^ My job consists of taking the character designs drawn by Xa and N’Tamak, and under the guidance and praise of our dear chief animator, Kuri, to give them life. Obviously, while keeping in mind each character’s specific traits, their background, class, race, type, etc. - always while trying to find the best or funniest pose to see a glimpse of delight in your lovely eyes. Who are even lovelier when aimed at me, I might add. ^^ You might wonder just how we create an animation. Well, I’ll go about it in order… First, we mimic the action ourselves (as you’ll see on the pictures bellow) to understand what should move, what shouldn’t, where the tension should be in the muscles… what the movement’s rhythm is… and with that we find the “key poses”. The key poses are the most important parts of an animation - they’re like checkpoints that need to be passed. Once those are done, we add rhythm, which means that we basically set up intervals between the key poses, for the animation to be as smooth as possible ^^ (okay that’s it for the technique part ^^). Short I know, but as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words! Kisses and hugs people! ^^ Ju |

It is still not finished, so to show how old it is, I add scratches, undoubtedly carried out by an angry zombie Tofu... hungry for human flesh… hum… I think i should mellow down a bit... ^^ Quick idea from our dear "Poolay", history has put a little variation in the stone's colour, usually a little faded, so we apply some reds and greens with a very reduced opacity. A little greenery from standing around in wet weather! Something we see very often in the north of France. ^^ And ta-da! We add some final shading, with history marking the overall surface one more time! (It is done!). And there we have it - a cute little statue ready to integrated in-game! PS. The good graphic artists are the ones who listen to other people's advice. If you make an artwork, don’t hesitate to show it to the people around you and to ask for advice - most of the time you’ll get good advice! Even if you don’t always want to admit it right away. ^ ^ Hope you have a nice weekend! Alhera, your humble servant ^^ |

Hello everyone! Today, a little graphic venture for you! I will show how to transform an artwork into a stone statue. So first things first, I already know that the statue will be placed on a pedestal, so I look through the image database and hey, found an existing one! So that’s one thing done. Recycling is very important - it saves us a great deal of time. Then on to the statue itself! To keep the cross-media ideology, the animation department sends me a drawing of a Sadida Guard from the series. Unfortunately he’s not in the right perspective for what we need ingame, so I have to work on it a little bit. Okay, after some alterations, here is our guardian put in perspective and “cleaned” (all neat and tidy). It is the beginning of my statue art… Then I move on to colour variations, and the shadowing of the stone. I “break up” the stone's surface a little, so that it appears more “rough” and I add some more nuances. I add "light" shadows History really shows up on the stone, causing cracks from time, not too exaggerated, but all the same we put some. And now, using a small trick of Sephy and Jonat on the stones, I add shading and bumps, for roughness and the blemishes, to give the surface a worn look. |

Konnichi wa! You all know Ntamak, right? Lately, he’s been working on adapting characters of the series for the game. To show you, here are some of the sprites you’ll find in-game in the future! And that’s where I come in as an apprentice designer. First, as you know, the back views: Then we move on to the good stuff, drawing facial expressions. There are basics ones that are always there (e.g. blink, hit…) and then there are specific ones who depend on the character itself, and the spells he casts. We also cut up the chars in pieces, that way it’s easier to build them later, and it opens the door to millions of combination possibilities. So my suggestion for you today, is to try what we call ‘posing’ for yourself, with the PNG exports of Smiss-Mond (basically play around with the pieces to create new poses). I didn’t put all of the expressions and pieces on purpose, that way you can also try to make some yourself! You’ll see it’s pretty simple ^^ Here’s your basic character: And some basic expressions: The PNG format lets you move the elements around without too much of a hassle, since it keeps the transparency. Hope you enjoy it! ^^ |

I think you’re just used to the way Wakfu used to be…. A world where you could run from one end to the other without any obstacles and without even looking at where you were going… Which in all fairness is pretty absurd - I’ve never even seen that in a video game before. In Wakfu there are roads, if you follow them you’ll arrive at your destination, if you choose not to, you have to be prepared for there to be consequences, and that means the possibly of a blockage or two along the way. It’s like with skiing, if you follow the trail you’ll be fine, but go off course and you might hit a tree. I imagine that some places can be really annoying when you go there the first time, but once you’ve actually been there, you should know and remember how to not get caught in a dead end. You wouldn’t want us to give you teleportation rights, would you? Exploring a bit won’t hurt! ^^ PS - If there are places that you find to be REALLY stupid, we’ll try to make corrections. You can make a list here of those places (please add the coordinates, the island, and a screenshot if you can) but make sure the changes you are asking for are REALLY necessary. I’ll verify myself before changing anything |
